Mr. Brenton has been involved in the
aquaculture industry for over 24 years and received his MSc in
Marine Biology from the University of British Columbia.
He specializes in hands-on fish farm management and
business planning. He has owned salmonid netpen operations in Canada and managed
and/or consulted on fish farm projects in North America, South
America, SE Asia and Australia.
He has presented technical/scientific papers at many
international conferences and taught aquaculture courses at
Simon Fraser University and Malaspina University-College, both
in British Columbia, Canada, plus served as a director with the
British Columbia Salmon Farmers Association.
Mr. Brenton is one of the founders of Future SEA Technologies, a
Canadian company that manufactures a floating containment system
for the rearing of finfish.
He is the patent holder of a waste removal system for
this technology. He
is experienced in the innovative development/implementation of
biological and technical programs including egg source
selection, broodstock development, world technology exchange,
hatchery design/construction, sea cage system
development/installation, employee training, financing
procurement and general management coordination at the farm
employee, farm manager, company management, local government and
federal government levels. He is an internationally certified, Workers Compensation
Board occupational scuba diver.
Most recently Mr. Brenton has been involved in
business plan development, biological modeling, permit/licence/lease
applications and financing proposals for tuna farms in Hawaii,
French Polynesia and Mexico.
