Dr. Ragnar Johannsson

Dr Ragnar Johannsson received his B.S. in Chemistry
from the University of Iceland, and his Ph.D. in physical chemistry
from the Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Uppsala,
Sweden. Dr. Johannsson has worked in the fields of land based fish
farming and environmental engineering since 1995 as both a researcher
and extension specialist. His projects include: degassing of CO2
in large land based salmon farms, CO2 tolerance of Atlantic Halibut,
RAS system design and testing for abalone farming, design of a small
cod fingerling recirculating system based on an upflow expandable
biofilter using pumice granular medium, and co-author of an Environmental
Impact Report for a 50.000 ton Magnesium factory at Reykjanes peninsula.
He has been the Editor of Aquafarmer, farming guides for Arctic
Char farming and the farming of eel. He is currently developing
a business plan and design for a 6000 metric ton tilapia farm using
geothermal energy in Iceland.
